Get the most from each platform
One post shared well can go further than several left alone. This guide covers the few habits that make the biggest difference on each platform, all inside each platform's own rules.
Checked against each platform's own pages on 4 November 2026. For what tools cannot do, and why, read What no tool can automate on social media.
Post to your Page first
Your business Page is the home of the post. Apps, schedulers included, can post to a Page, so this is the part to plan ahead. If you want to thank people by name, a Page can mention someone who has commented on the post, and only if your Page settings allow others to tag it.1 So reply to comments, and tag the commenter in your reply.
Then share it to your personal profile
Open the Page post, press Share and choose your own profile. Add one line in your own words: why this matters to you, or who it is for. Friends and neighbours trust a person more readily than a logo. Social Media Assistant writes that owner version for you; once you sign it off, it shares in one tap through Facebook's own Share dialog, with your caption ready to copy.
Share to Groups by hand
No app has been able to post into a Facebook Group since 22 April 2024.2 Facebook's own Share dialog still lets you choose a group yourself.3 Done well, a Group share is often the most valuable post of your week:
- Pick groups where your customers already are, such as local community groups, and not groups full of other businesses.
- Read the rules. Many groups allow promotion only on a set day, or not at all.
- Write a first line for that group. "For anyone in the village asking about..." beats a pasted advert.
- One group at a time. The same text pasted into many groups at once looks like spam to members and admins.
- Stay for the comments. Answer questions in the group, in your own name.
Social Media Assistant will prepare each Group post ready to paste, with this checklist beside it.
- Use a professional account. Apps can only publish to business or creator accounts.4 You can switch in the app's settings.
- Tag the people in the picture. Apps can tag public accounts in photos, videos and Reels.5 Tag the supplier, the venue or the team member who made it happen; a tag gives them an easy reason to share it.
- Invite collaborators. Up to three accounts can be invited as collaborators on a feed post, Reel or carousel.5 Use it for joint events and partner businesses.
- Check handles before you post. One wrong letter tags a stranger or nobody. Social Media Assistant will check each handle first and leave out any it cannot find, so the post still goes out.
- Post as yourself as well as the company. LinkedIn lets an app post on your own profile once you sign in and allow it.6 Your own post reaches your own network, which a company Page cannot.
- Reshare the Page post with your own line. Say what you learned or who should read it.
- Get mentions right. Type the company's name exactly as its Page shows it; a mismatch, even in capital letters, turns the mention into plain text.7 When posting as a Page, you can only mention people who follow it.8
- Skip the automation tools. LinkedIn bans software that automates connecting, messaging or liking, and accounts that use it can be restricted.9
TikTok
- Choose your settings on every post. Approved apps must let you pick who can see each video, and leave comments, Duet and Stitch off until you turn them on.10 Decide each time; a how-to video and a behind-the-scenes clip may need different settings.
- Expect private posts from new apps. Until TikTok audits an app, everything it posts is private.10 If a scheduled video appears only to you, that is the reason.
- Keep your video clean. Apps may not add their own logos to your content, so what you film is what people see.10
Social Media Assistant, which Keepwright is building, is being tested on Keepwright's own social media first; live posting waits on each platform's approval of our app.
